My home and studio is located in Salida Colorado, an incredibly scenic and charming small town on the east side of the Continental Divide. Salida has a thriving tourist trade owing to it's beautiful vistas and many outdoor pursuits. It is an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Denver International Airport, about the same from the Colorado Springs airport too. The drive is stunning. World class trout fishing is right across the street from us on the Arkansas River. Ski mountains, ghost towns, the Great Sand Dunes National Park, white water rafting and kayaking, golf course within walking distance, fantastic mountain biking, hiking trails.... even an Alligator farm! are all within close proximity. The town itself hosts many festivals and fairs, live music, art walks, and charming small town parades. There is a lot going on here!
If you are coming to visit from out of town, call for a list of accommodation. There are plentiful choices in places to stay, and restaurants to try. The antique shopping is excellent, and a stroll downtown is a lesson in history. It's a friendly place by all accounts, and often makes the "10 Best Places to Live" lists.
